christmas movies

Christmas is right around the corner and it’s all about togetherness and family. I’ve compiled a list of must watch Christmas themed movies for you to have on hand for the holiday season. Your family and friends will love them and you’ll be able to watch these year after year without getting sick of them. True classics!

A Christmas Story (1983)
All Ralphie wants in the entire world is a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. This 1940s family is hilarious. You’ll love Ralphies irritable father, his whiny brother, and his all-American mother.

Elf (2003)
What could be more fun for a kid to watch than a six foot tall elf? Between Will Ferrell’s great performance and the wacky concept of an Elf on the loose in New York City, this is destined to become a Christmas classic.

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
No list of Must See Holiday Movies would be complete without this James Stewart and Donna Reed classic. Share this timeless story with your children.

The Santa Clause (1994)
Every kids dream is to go to the North Pole, but how many kids can say that Santa is their Dad? Watch an unwilling Tim Allen become Santa.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
Great Gonzo as Charles Dickens? How can you go wrong? This lighthearted, humorous version is a perfect introduction to the classic Charles Dickens tale.

Home Alone (1990)
This is my all-time favourite Christmas movie. An eight-year-old troublemaker must protect his house from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during Christmas vacation. Macaulay Culkin’s smart mouth is hard to resist.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
One year after Kevin was left home alone and had to defeat a pair of bumbling burglars, he accidentally finds himself in New York City, and the same criminals are not far behind. This follow up really makes Christmas in New York look beautiful without even trying.

Bad Santa (2003)
A miserable conman and his partner pose as Santa and his Little Helper to rob department stores on Christmas Eve. But they run into problems when the conman befriends a troubled kid. Billy Bob Thornton is amazing as the very sarcastic Willie.

Bad Santa 2 (2016)
Fueled by cheap whiskey, greed and hatred, Willie teams up once again with his angry little sidekick, Marcus, to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. This is an amazing sequel and Kathy Bates makes it much better.

If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments. I’m always looking for more Christmas movies to watch. You can never have too many Christmas movies!
